OK, back to the ministry

I know a few of you are interested in the work we are doing here and not just babies and snowfall amounts. So here's an update on what the heck we're doing here.

I have been filling the pulpit (its actually a music stand) since our pastor left in December. I've preached several sermons from Hebrews and enjoy the challenge of preparing sermons week after week. The church has been very encouraging to me and has thus far ignored my faults and shortcomings. It is a great time of growth and learning for me personally.

Jana has been working closely with our unofficial women's ministry team. They are planing monthly fellowships and prayer times for our ladies. They are also organizing a women's bible study that has been meeting on Sunday mornings. They are very excited about a missions project they are leading. For Easter they are hosting an egg hunt for The Children's Village. About 20 kids who live in foster care will come and learn about the resurrection story.

March 8th the men (and lets be honest, the women as well) are hosting the 4th annual Beast Feast. We are inviting men from the community to come eat all sorts of wild game and hear a Christian Speaker talk about his experiences in hunting, fishing, and life. Last year we had 130 men at this event and expect to have at least that many this year.

March 16 (3/16) Our brand new church choir will present 3:16 Numbers of Hope. We going to invite all the men at the Beast Feast to bring their families to this performance. At this performance we are going to invite everyone back for Easter services. Please pray for our MARCH! I am praying that this will be a great time of growth so that we can give all the glory to God.

Jana and I are leading an adult life group on Thursday nights. The group has grown and become a wonderful time of community and discipleship. We are studying the book of Ephesians.

The student life group continues to meet on Wednesday night. We have been focusing on 2 Timothy 2:15. We've realized that we need to get back to the basics of Bible study, so I'm challenging them to learn the books of the Bible, in order. They are learning very quickly and with great excitement.

There are six adult life groups total that seem to be doing very well.

The pastor search team has been meeting weekly to make decisions about how to proceed with the search. They are accepting resumes and seeking opinions from the congregations about the type of pastor we are looking for.

I'm sure there is a lot more I am leaving out. Mostly, please please pray for us. There are a lot of good things happening, and I really don't believe they would be happening if it were not for the prayers of all the saints. Thanks.

I've updated www.northstarchurch.us with more pictures.
